Photographer Dan Kehlenbach is the winner of the Currituck County Libraries' 2023-2024 Grace Austin Award!
Established in 1999, the Grace M. Austin Award is awarded annually to a person or organization who has made exceptional contributions to the Currituck County Public Library. We are happy to announce Dan Kehlenbach as our 2023-2024 award recipient.
Dan is a self-described “passionate nature photographer” with over 30 years of experience behind the lens. He and his wife LuAnn have traveled extensively and relocated frequently with the Coast Guard, and Dan has kindly offered his expertise at several libraries throughout the country, including the Currituck County Public Libraries. By volunteering his time, talent, and dedication, he has enabled our libraries to offer several programs we have never been able to offer before, including Introduction to Photography classes for adults, teens, and homeschoolers, Moyock’s Adult Photography Club, and our Shutterbug Club for children.
Dan says that “[p]hotography gives me a deeper, richer connection to nature, evokes a sense of wonder, and enhances my awareness of the beauty of the natural world.” You can learn more about Dan at his website: https://dankehlenbach.zenfolio.com
In addition to his passion for photography, Dan is a skilled pastel artist and poet and has taught classes at the library in these mediums as well. His dedication and support to our community has been nothing short of remarkable and we are so grateful for Dan’s willingness to share his time and expertise with the citizens of Currituck County.
Thank you Dan!
